Bell 4Forty Air Helmet (MIPS)

Bell has taken their 4Forty and evolved the design to make it better than ever. A sleek shell sees improvements to venting and better goggle compatibility as well as a magnetic buckle to make fitment easy.

What hasn't changed is the superb level of protection. In the event of a crash, the EPS foam core provides shock absorption, helping to prevent injury. This protective core is fused to a durable polycarbonate shell. In combination with the inner, this system offers reliable protection against minor dings from trailside overgrowth as well as more serious impacts.  

MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System)

Made to meet and exceed international standards, Bell also turn to MIPS to add an extra layer of head protection to their 4Forty Air.

The Mips system is designed to provide added safety for helmets in many accidents. For certain impacts, the Mips system can reduce harmful rotational motion that might otherwise be transferred to the user’s head.

Rotational motion is a common cause of concussions in oblique hits to the head. In a crash, the Mips system is designed to move slightly inside the helmet to help redirect forces away from the head.

Feature-packed MTB Performance

When you're in the flow of the trail or grinding it up a steep uphill, 14 large vents let air rush over your head so you don't overheat. However, when you do build up a sweat, the Sweat Guide™ system at the brow moves sweat away from the pads and prevents it from running into your eyes. Ionic+ Comfort Padding also fights the build-up of bacteria, preventing itching and maintaining freshness.
